One of the most popular short top best treks in Annapurna, Ghorepani Poonhill Trek takes you to one of Nepal's classic view points, Poon Hill before passing through the heritage village of Ghandruk, the home to Gurkhas. In a short time, the trek pass through beautiful local villages, rhododendron forest, and of course get access to panoramic views of Nepal’s most famous peaks from Poon Hill - Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna I and Annapurna South.

Trekking in Ghorepani Poonhill is relatively easy trek compared to other higher altitude treks of Nepal. Please do expect a steep climb up the stone staircase from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani, 1387m of altitude gain in a single day is not to be taken lightly. Your trekking duration each day will largely depend on your fitness and how much you like to stop to enjoy the views. 

Ghorepani Poonhil Trek most often is done in 5/6 days, 2 days to reach Ghorepani and 3/4 days to return to Nayapul/Phedi. Keep in mind, however, that much depends on how fast you move and how you like to enjoy your trek. This trek can also be completed in either directions both ways just as rewarding. From Pokhara, you'll be driven to Nayapul, where you'll  begin your trekking.

The city of Pokhara is the main starting point for almost all the treks in the Annapurna Region including Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking. Pokhara is a 25-minute flight or a 6-7 hour drive from Kathmandu. From Pokhara, you’ll either take a private jeep/car or public bus to Nayapul, where you will be dropped off to begin your trek to Poonhill and Ghorepani.

Day 1: Drive or fly to Pokhara (820m).
Drive or fly to Pokhara, the nature and lake city. If you drive to Pokhara by overland, it takes 6 hours drive and by fight, it is a 30 minute scenic Himalayan flight to Pokhara. In the afternoon, free day in Pokhara, walk on the banks of Phewa Lake and boating on the lake to Barahi temple. From there you could see nice view of mount Fishtail and Annapurna.

Day 2: Pokhara to Ulleri (1960m, 5/6 hours trek)
Drive an hour to Nayapul, the trekking start point of Ghorepani Poonhill and trek to Ulleri for 5/6 hours. Today trek is easy and gradual uphill to Tikhedhunga. After Tikhedhunga, the last part of the trekking goes steep uphill to Ulleri for one and half hours. Ulleri is the Magar village where we spend overnight there we can see Mt. Annapurna South.

Day 3:  Ulleri / Ghorepani trek (2750 m, 5 to 6 hrs trek).
Trek for 5/6 hours on uphill through forest of rhododendron and oak with passing some spring stream and waterfalls.

Day 4: Trek to Tadapani after Poonhill.
Morning, excursion to Poonhill (3193 m) for an hour to 2 hours to see morning sunrise and panoramic mountain views and trek to Tadapani (2590 m) for 5/6 hours after breakfast at Ghorepani.

Day 5: Tadapani - Ghandrung (1940 m, 3 hours trek)
Trek for 3 hours almost on descends to Ghandruk, the most developed big Gurung village. Pretty closed by view of Mount Fishtail, Hiunchuli and Annapurna South can be seen from there.

Day 6: Ghandruk to Pothana (1900 m) trek.
Trek for 5/6 hours to Pothana. The trail goes ascends and descends to Pothana past Landruk, Tolkha villages and then forest of oak, pine, rhododendron with orchid flowers.

Day 7: Pothana Pokhara, end trek at Phedi.
Trek down to Phedi for 3/4 hours via Dhampus and then drive an hour by private cab or by bus to Pokhara. Overnight stays at hotel. 

Day 8: Pokhara Kathmandu.
Drive or fly back to Kathmandu. In the afternoon free for shopping souvenirs to friends and family, join our farewell dinner at typical Nepali restaurant with traditional Nepali culture program in the evening.

Cost Includes

  • Airport receives and departure transfer by private vehicle – airport/hotel/airport.
  • Good hotel accommodation with breakfast in Kathmandu and Pokhara as per the clients demands.
  • Kathmandu tour with tour guide on private coach could be car, van or bus.
  • All ground transportation by private vehicle or flight as per the client’s request.
  • All the necessary trekking permits – TIMS Card and ACAP trekking permit.
  • Simple – neat and clean best available mountain guest house accommodation on twin bed room with hot shower at the end of trekking day.
  • All three times meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner with 3 cups of tea daily during trekking.
  • English speaking trekking guide during trekking and 1 porter between every 2 clients who carry 25 kg luggage, their insurance, meals, salary, accommodation and transportation cost.
  • Farewell dinner in Kathmandu on last evening of trekking tour.
  • All government tax and services charge.

Cost Excludes

  • Lunch and Dinner in city like Kathmandu and Pokhara.
  • Client’s travel insurance that should cover Helicopter rescue in case of emergency or evacuation.
  • All drinks like coke, beer, fanta, whisky, mineral water, pot of tea or coffee and hot water.
  • Expenses of personal nature- telephone, internet, laundry and all unexpected expenses due to weather situation like flight delay, road blocked by landslide or accident that is out of our hand, we can’t control it.
  • Tips for guide, porter and driver, minimum 10% of the tour trekking cost amount is good tips recommendation that you can divide to guide, porter and driver as per their service.
  • Personal trekking equipments and medical kit.
  • Heater costs in guesthouses
  • Nepal visa fee and all the cost that is not mention on cost included.
  • International flight ticket cost.
