Nepal’s spectacular diversity appears at its finest on trekking to Jomsom Muktinath. The deep valleys and high mountains encircle the Annapurna Himalayan has a wide range of peoples and terrain from subtropical jungle to a high, dry landscapes similar as Tibetan Plateau. Jomsom Muktinath is also among the tamest areas with excellent lodges lining the main trekking trails.

Jomsom Muktinath trekking is a part of Mustang region of Nepal, ending at Kagbeni village, a Tibetan influenced village filled with prayer wheels, chortens and Buddhist monastery. The trail follows the Kali Gandaki River which forms the deepest ravine in the world. On a side lies the Annapurna mountain range and the other side is Dhaulagiri. There are views of 8 of the 20 highest mountains in the world. The Jomsom Muktinath trekking ranges scenery from forests of bright red rhododendrons to rocky cliffs and desert. Muktinath (3800m), a holy site of temples sacred to both Buddhists and Hindus for centuries, on Jomsom Muktinath trek is really offer a rich mixture culture of   Hindus and Tibetan Buddhism.

Trek Jomsom Muktinath belongs to easy to Medium level trekking grade, no any previous trekking experience required. This trek is called jomsom trek as well and a good physical fitness is nice. Autumn and spring is good time for Jomsom Muktinath trekking but we can to this trekking all around the year. Please kindly bring normal trekking gear with you. Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,300m)
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu airport, you will be greeted by us. After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggage and look for our representative with your name display on A4 size paper at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to Hotel. After check in, you can take a rest, hang around in the city or visit our office; it all depends upon your interests.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour
Guided tour of Kathmandu’s world heritage sites- Kathmandu durbar square, the palace and house of Living goddess Kumari, Asia’s the holiest Hindu pilgrimage site, Pashupatinath temple, Boudhanath stupa and Swoyambhunath stupa known as monkey temple as well.

Day 3: Kathmandu Pokhara (823m), and trek to Tikhedhunga (1552m).
Morning fly to Pokhara. Be sure to catch the right side of the airplane for the best views of Himalayas.  Flight to Pokhara offers magnificent views of the Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhare, five peaks of Annapurna range and others. Numerous lakes of Pokhara offer fishing, boating and swimming, the city itself is popular as city of lakes. After taking rest for some time, drive to NayaPul and start the trek. We walk to the northern side of Bhurungdi Khola; the trail climbs through the sub tropical valley forests, sometimes on the carved trail on the side of the cliff. We cross the ModiKhola River via a suspension bridge to the village of Tikhedhunga. 

Day 4: Tikhedhunda to Ghorepani (2,750m, 6/7 hrs) trek.
The trail drops down and crosses the Burungdi Khola, then climbs all the way up to Ghorepani via very steep up to village Ulleri. The Ulleri Hill with thousands of steps and boulders that continually go upward would really prove a test of your stamina. Ghorepani means horse-water so it was place for traders to stop horses to feed them water before it became a trekker stop. Ghorepani is an interesting place with small shops and stalls for selling local products and craft. Since Ghorepani lies quite higher than our previous stop, we begin to feel the chilly weather especially in the evenings.

Day 5: Ghorepani to Tatopani (1,190m, 5/6 hrs)
Trek descends steeply to Sikha, a large village of Magar and further descends to Ghar Khola Village of Brahman and Chhetri. After crossing suspension bridge it climbs up at Tatopani. Tatopani, meaning Hot Water in Nepali derives its name from the hot springs there. The hot springs are popular among the trekker to sooth their tired leg muscles. Diving into hot spring, it recovers rheumatic and skin disease, the local believes it.

Day 6:  Tatopani to Ghasa (2,110m, 5/6 hrs)
The trail now follows the Kali Gandaki river flows under the deep gorge by 2200m in between two 8000m mountaintops are only 38km apart. Continuing along to Dana, Rupse Chahara meaning beautiful waterfall and Kopchepani, the trail further ascends to the Thakali village Ghasa. Ghasa is a paradise for the bird watchers.

Day 7:  Ghasa to Marpha (2,680m, 4/5hrs)
A steep climb through forest takes you to Lete Khola then reach to Lete. It further continues to the east side of the Kaligandaki reach you Larjung Village. From Larjung, we cross trail via Tukche (2590m) and apple farm projects which produces apple and vegetable for the whole region until you get to Marpha Village.

Day 8:  Marpha to Kagbeni (2,810m, 4/5 hrs)
The trail continues along the valley side, rising gradually before crossing over a low ridge to Jomsom Village. Cross the Panga Khola to reach Ekle Bhatti meaning lonely pub. From Jomsom onwards it is very windy in the afternoon and the trek continues on the gradual path on the Kali Gandaki river bed for about 3 hrs and finally reaching at Ekley-bhatti village. After a good stop here an hour of easy walk takes us to Kagbeni, which lies at the bank of two rivers. Kagbeni is an interesting windswept villages situated on the main age old Trans Himalayan salt trade route to Tibet via Upper Mustang area.

Day 9: Kagbeni to Muktinath (3,710m, 5/6 hrs)
Our journey starts with a special permit check up and onwards to the riverbank of Kaligandaki up stream. During the walk we will have scenic picturesque places to stop by. From Kagbeni the path climbs steeply to re-join the direct trail leading to Khingar at 3200m. The trail climbs through a desert landscape till Jarkot Village. A further climb reaches us to Muktinath.

Day 10: Muktinath to Jomsom (2,715m, 5/6 hrs)
Muktinath is one of most important destination for Hindus pilgrimage. It also holds an important place for the Buddhists. In the morning, we visit Muktinath Temple of the Lord Vishnu. For the Hindus, the region is a Muktikhsetra or the region of liberation or salvation. There are water spouts channeled for the stream running above the temple. There is also a Buddhist Monastery nearby. Also enjoy the magnificent views of Dhaulagiri peak from Muktinath. Muktinath itself demonstrates the religions harmony in Nepal. From Muktinath, we continue back to Jomsom.

Day 11: Jomsom to Pokhara by flight
After morning breakfast we check in the airport to fly back to Pokhara, a 30-min dramatic flight to Pokhara between gorge of the two huge mountains, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. On arrival at Pokhara airport, guide will transfer to the lakeside hotel. We make use of the rest afternoon for discovering the beautiful Pokhara valley leisurely. While we walk along the bank of Fewa Lake, a second biggest lake of Nepal, we cannot stop admiring the state of Fish Tail Mountain reflecting in the lake. We can also take a boat around the Fewa Lake or just can take an hour  walk to the World Peace Pagoda. Evening time, we spend exploring around the lakeside. Overnight at hotel.

Day 12: Drive to Kathmandu
Today, after breakfast, we make a 200 kilometers drive back to Kathmandu. Better to hold on the left side of the vehicle to enjoy the scenery through the route. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. You can spend the evening leisurely, perhaps catch up on some last minute shopping and celebrate dinner together with us. Overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 13: Kathmandu Airport.
You are saying good bye to the mountains as your journey in Nepal comes to an end today! We take you to the airport for your flight time. We hope you enjoyed the trek, and are sure you will be back for trekking somewhere in the Himalaya again. Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight, we will take you to the airport.

  • Airport receives and departure transfer by private vehicle – airport/hotel/airport.
  • Good hotel accommodation with breakfast in Kathmandu and Pokhara as per the clients demands.
  • Kathmandu tour with tour guide on private coach could be car, van or bus.
  • All ground transportation by private vehicle or flight as per the client’s request.
  • All the necessary trekking permits – TIMS Card and ACAP trekking permit.
  • Simple – neat and clean best available mountain guest house accommodation on twin bed room with hot shower at the end of trekking day.
  • All three times meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner with 3 cups of tea daily during trekking.
  • English speaking trekking guide during trekking and 1 porter between every 2 clients who carry 25 kg luggage, their insurance, meals, salary, accommodation and transportation cost.
  • Farewell dinner in Kathmandu on last evening of trekking tour.

  • Lunch and Dinner in city like Kathmandu and Pokhara.
  • Client’s travel insurance that should cover Helicopter rescue in case of emergency or evacuation.
  • All drinks like coke, beer, fanta, whisky, mineral water, pot of tea or coffee and hot water.
  • Expenses of personal nature- telephone, internet, laundry and all unexpected expenses due to weather situation like flight delay, sick, road blocked by landslide or accident that is out of our hand, we can’t control it.
  • Tips for guide, porter and driver, minimum 10% of the tour trekking cost amount is good tips recommendation that you can divide to guide, porter and driver as per their service.
  • Personal trekking equipments and medical kit.
  • Heater costs in guesthouses
