Gokyo Lake Cho La Everest Base Camp trekking is the most adventure trekking in the Khumbu valley of Everest. This trekking is also called Everest circuit trekking which covers all most the trekking sites – Gokyo Lake, Cho La Pass, Everest Base Camp and Kalapattar of Everest region.
Gokyo Cho La Pass EBC Trekking and Kalapattar are also known as Everest Circuit trekking. This is one of the most adventure treks in Everest. The trekking follows the route via high pass of Cho La at 5330meters into the Everest base camp. A unique trek that goes through Lukla, Namche bazaar and all the way to Gokyo lake, Cho La Pass, Kalapattar and Everest Base Camp.
Leading you to the home of the legendary Sherpa people, based at the foothills of the highest peak in the world, Mt. Everest at 8848 meters. This trek follows the highly praised trekking route through the Dudh Koshi to its source the Gokyo Lake which is to the west of the Everest Base Camp, giving you the benefit to summit Gokyo Peak (5483 meters) offering a fantastic panoramic view of Cho Oyo, Everest and Makalu. As we cross the Cho-La pass and return back to Lukla following the route through Everest Base Camp, Kalapattar down to Tengboche monastery, Khumjung village, Namche Bazar and Lukla. This is a challenging grade of tea house trekking. A pretty sound shape of health and good trekking equipment is necessary for this trekking. The best time, trekking to Gokyo Lake/Cho La/EBC/Kalapattar is autumn and spring. At this time the weather is pretty, sunny nice and warm at lower elevation of this trekking and at the higher elevation of the trekking, and it is pretty cold. The temperature drops to minus 10 to 15 at night. The top of Cho La there is permanent snow all around the year. Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu (1334m), you will have warm reception meeting and greeting, then transfer to Hotel. In the evening, short briefing about Gokyo Everest base camp trekking and Overnight at Kathmandu.
Day 2: Kathmandu –Lukla- Phakding
Katmandu by flight to Lukla takes 45 minutes and trek to Phakding (2830m) for 3/4 hours on an easy trail through villages of Sherpa and passing Mani stones.
Day 3: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3480m).
Trek 6 hours following Dudh Koshi River, walks on ascends and descends trail cross over bridges many times on Dudh Koshi River. The last part of the trekking is steep uphill to Namche, and at the middle point of uphill, you can see the first amazing view of world highest mountain Mt. Everest.
Day 4: Namche Bazaar acclimatization day.
You will have an acclimatize hiking to Everest view hotel for superb views of Mt. Everest( 8848m) , Mt.Lhotse, (8516n) Mt. Nuptse, (7855m), Mt.Amadablam (6856m), Mt. Thamserku ( 6723m) , Mt. Kantega (6979m), Mt. Kusum Khangaru ( 6367m) , Mt.Kongde (6011m), Mt. Tawache peak ( 6367 m) , Mt. Cholaste (6335m) ,island peak (6179m), Khumbila (God of Khumbu) 5761m and overnight at Namche Bazaar.
Day 5: Trek to Khumjung (3840m)
Short and easy walk to Kumjung takes 3 hours. This is, though steep uphill but nice trek.
Day 6: Trek to Dole (4000m)
Trek descends first and then ascent all uphill leaving the main trail of Everest base camp to Dole, it takes 6 hours walk on mountain trail.
Day 7: Trek to Machhermo (4400m)
Trek all uphill for 5/6 hours via Luza on wonderful mountain valley with Himalayan views to Machhermo.
Day 8: Trek to Gokyo Lake (4750m)
Trek on a mountain trail of Gokyo valley. Today trek is almost uphill on moraine and glacier, passing Gokyo Lake. It is 4/5 hours trek to Gokyo Lake.
Day 9: Climb up Gokyo Lake.
Gokyo lake early in the morning hike to Gokyo Ri/Gokyo peak (5545m) for superb Himalayan views including the Mt. Everest 8848m, Mt Lhotse 8516m, Mt. Cho Oyu 8201m, Mt. Nuptse 7855m, Mt. Pumori 7161m, Mt. Amadablam 6856m, Mt. Thamserku 6723m, Mt. Kantega 6685m, Mt.Kusum Khagaru 6367m,Mt.Kongde 6011m,Mt.Twache peak 6367m, Mt. Cholaste 6335m etc ,back to Gokyo lake ,after lunch continue trek to Thangnak(4850m)
Day 10: Trek to Thangna (4800m).
Trek 4/5 hours on Gokyo Glacier. It is very interesting walk on the glacier hearing cracking sound of ice and icicles.
Day 11: Trek to Dzongla (4910m)
Trek 7/8 hours to Dzongla crossing Cho La pass, a challenging pass in Everest region. First part of the trek is steep uphill to Cho La pass and then it descends steeply to Dzongla. On top of Cho La there is thick snow all around the year.
Day 12: Trek to Lobuche.
Easy and short trek to Lobuche on almost flat trail, it takes 4 hours trek. Hike up to ridge near by Lobuche to watch Khumbu glacier. It is really lovely.
Day 13: Trek to Gorakshep –Everest Base Camp.
Trek to Gorakshep (5180m), after lunch continue to Everest base camp (5500m) and overnight at Gorakshep.
Day 14: Climb up Kalapattar and trek down to Dingboche.Gorakshep early in the morning hike to kala pattar (5545m) for superb Himalayan views including the Mt. Everest 8848m, Mt Lhotse 8516m, Mt. Day 15: Trek to Tyangboche (3890m)
Trek downhill to Tengboche monastery, the most religious site of Khumbu region where you can meet Rimpoche, the head lama of monastery, and monks. Tengboche is the place you can see the fantastic views of Mt. Everest and AmaDablam.
Day 16: Trek to Namche Bazaar
Trek descents and ascents for 5/6 hours to Namche enjoying the superb mountain views.
Day 17: Trek to Lukla
Trek downhill on the same trail we had trekked up, watching the beautiful landscape in opposite direction. It takes 6 hours trekking.
Day 18: Lukla to Katmandu.
Take 40 minutes flight in the morning since most of the flights to Kathmandu from Lukla is in morning. In the afternoon free time and relax at hotel.
Day 19: Kathmandu Tour
After breakfast, visit historical monuments sightseeing in Kathmandu valley including Bhaktapur, Pasupatinath, Boudhhanath, Kathmandu durbar square and Monkey temple (swoyambhunath) and in the evening farewell dinner in Restaurant, overnight at Kathmandu in Hotel.
Day 20: Kathmandu Airport
After breakfast, Relaxing/shopping with own activities, then drop to Kathmandu international airport for onward journey.
