Gokyo Lake trekking is a medium variant trekking and good for trekking beginners. Though Gokyo Lake trekking is all season trekking, but autumn and spring is the best for Gokyo Lake trekking. The trek to Goyko offers an alternative to the traditional Everest base camp trek. From Goyko Ri, more of Everest itself is visible than from Kala Pattar above Gorak shep.


The mountains are more spectacular, the Ngozumpa Glacier is the largest in the Nepal Himalaya and, from a ridge above Goyko, and four 8000-meter peaks (Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu) are visible. The view of the tremendous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung Kang (7922m) is one of the most dramatic panoramas in Khumbu. This trek is less crowded than the base camp trek.


Gokyo Lake Trekking is a medium variant trekking which includes an ascent of Gokyo RI. On our gokyo lake trek in Everest will take you to visit the beautiful Gokyo Lakes on the final part of Gokyo trek.Gokyo lake trekking is an all season trekking, suitable for trekking beginners.  But autumn (Sep-Dec) and spring (March-May) is the best and recommend season to make trekking holidays in Gokyo Valley.


Like the Everest base camp trek, Gokyo lake trek also starts with the exciting flight to Lukla from Kathmandu, and then trek to Namche bazzar after a night halt at Phakding.We spend two nights at Namche bazzar for resting and acclimatizing before heading to trekking in gokyo valley.Namche bazzar is a good place to enjoy acclimatize day where there is trekking shops, bakery café, Internet café, mini bar and restaurant and massage therapy. A scarmble ascent of nearby Gokyo RI (5483m) gives more spectacular views of Everest and the beautiful turquoise Gokyo Lakes.


A good shape of health and good trekking equipment is required for Gokyo Lake trekking. The weather and temperature at lower elevation trek is nice and warm but while trekking higher it is cold. There is facility of mobile network, internet café, and electricity of charging battery available on trekking to Gokyo Lake. Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
You are met by us at Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel nearby Thamel as per your requirement. Great food from all over the world, fabulous shopping and Durbar square with its several temples and markets are nearby Thamel.

Day 2: Tour in Kathmandu and Trekking Preparation.
Kathmandu tour visit Pashupatinath temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath and Patan Durbar Square. Rest of the time you can use for travelling around Thamel and shopping of needed equipment and other necessaries. In the afternoon, meet your trekking guide, discuss trekking program and coordinate any last-minute arrangements.

Day 3:  Fly to Lukla (2804m) trek to Phakding (2610m)
Take 40 minutes dramatic flight through the mountains to Lukla. A short 3 hours treks to Phakding through villages and Mani stones following Dudh Koshi River.

Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3441m)
Follow the Dudh Koshi River upstream before making the short but steep to the Sherpa capital of Namche bazzar.

Day 5: Namche Bazaar acclimatization day.
Spend a day in and around Namche for acclimatization -there are numerous good options. Day hiking to Everest view hotel for panorama view of Ama Dablam, Mt. Everest and other Himalayan range, then walk down to Khumjung village and visit Hillary school.

Day 6: Trek to Phorste Thanga (3680m)
We begin with a climb to the hill to Khumjung and then descend to the east of the village down the broad Valley leading to the Dudh Koshi. The Gokyo route turns north, climbing above the more frequented route to Tengboche and Everest base camp. The two trails soon join and continue towards a large chorten on the ridge top at 3973m. This ridge descends from Khumbila. Again from Mong the trail descends in steep switchbacks down a sandy slope to the Dudh Koshi. The trail to Everest drops down the hill but we turn off here and climb to cross the Mon La before reaching Phortse Thanga.

Day 7: Trek to Machhermo (4470 meters).
The trail climbs steadily up valley on forested hillside and through open pastures. The trail will take about 6 hours to reach Machhermo (4470m) where the mountain views are superb.

Day 8: Acclimatization day at Machhermo.
It is possible to climb the nearby ridge for magnificent views of Everest and Makalu.

Day 9: Trek to Gokyo (4790 meters)
Today the trail will ascend to Gokyo.Trek past the first and second of Gokyo five lakes to reach Gokyo village itself on the shores of the third lake is known as Dudh Pokhari and on its eastern shore is the settlement of Gokyo. Walking by the side of the lake, the scenery is breathtaking with the summits of Cho- Oyu and Gyachung Kang reflected in its emerald green waters.

Day 9: Trek to Gokyo RI (5483m) and then back to Gokyo.
We start early in the morning with a steep climb up to the top of Gokyo RI (5480m) plentiful rewards to ones that attempt this trip. Stunning views of the Gokyo valley, the massive Ngozumpa Glacier and an incredible panoramic view of the whole Khumbu mountains range, such giants as Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu (8481m), Cho-Oyu (8153m) and Gychung Kang (7922m) are what we get from this place. Explore around and back to the Gokyo in the afternoon.

Day 10: Trek to Dole (3680m, 6 hours).
The trail continues to the east side of valley. It is a series of ascents and descents along the Dudh Koshi River. The route to Phortse retraces the upward journey to Pangka, then turns east and climbs across the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier to Na (4,400m), the only year round settlement in the valley. The trail makes a few ups and downs where landslides and streams have carve side valley, eventually entering Phortse Village (3810m).  Phortse village is a beautiful in Everest region trekking.

Day 11:  Trek to Namche Bazaar via Khumjung village (3780meters)
After breakfast a steep ascent for 2 hours gets us to Mani Danda. A gradual climb after lunch will see us at the village of Khumjung (4790m). Walk down to Namche via Shyangboche for night stop. Every Saturday, if you are lucky enough to be in Namche on Saturday, people from the surrounding areas bring their goods to sell at ‘Haat Bazaar’ where you can see local and traditional products on sale.

Day 12: Trek to Lukla (2804 meters.)
Trek back to Lukla along the same trail, although it always looks different coming from the opposite direction on arrival in Lukla (2840m) you will have time to relax and celebrate the completion of your trek.

Day 13: Lukla to Kathmandu
Fly to Kathmandu by take 30 minutes scenic flight in the morning. Spend free day on your own. 

Day 14:  Rest day Shopping/ Leisure
If you have slept off your fatigue and stinging muscles, you can go on a shopping rampage or get a massage to get your body back in shape. You could still be in Lukla, if it was a bad weather the day before. Either way, you are going to be free today.

Day 15: Kathmandu Airport.
Farewell and transfer to airport for flight back to onward destination.
