Gokyo Lake Trek explores around the breathtaking Gokyo valley which is located adjacent of the Khumbu. Lukla Gokyo Lake Hiking is generally a tea house treks stay at mountain lodges, begins at Lukla after 30 minutes flight from Kathmandu. The trekking goes through the land of the legendary Sherpas into the Sagarmatha (Everest) national park. This trek is one of the most popular treks in the world. Day 1: Arrival in Nepal.
On arrival at Kathmandu, our representative meets you airport, transfer to hotel nearby Thamel as per your requirement. Free day explore Thamel market on your own, and the afternoon trekking briefing, meet your guide and helper. Discuss with guide about trekking.
Day 2: Kathmandu Tour and trek preparation
Kathmandu tour visit world heritage sites of Kathmandu valley like Pashupatinath temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swoyambhunath Stupa and Kathmandu durbar Square. Rest of the time you can use for travelling around Thamel and shopping of needed equipment and other necessaries.
Day 3: Fly to Lukla (2804 m) trek to Phakding (2610 m)
Take a breathtaking fly on a twin Otter to Lukla (2804 m), where we begin our trek into the Khumbu region. This is an amazing flight of dramatic view of terraced hills and the distant Himalayan massifs. Then trek to Phakding (2610 meters) for 3 hours passing Mani stones and scattered villages of Sherpa.
Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3441 m)
continue trekking for around 6 hours along the banks of the Dudh Kosi river through stands of pine and oak trees, crossing this majestic river many times on exciting suspension bridges loaded with prayer flags. Last part of the trekking is steep uphill climb to Namche bazzar. Namche Bazar is a colorful village with many wonderful and interesting shops and vendors, fabulous food, and stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
Day 5: Namche Bazaar acclimatization day.
Spend extra day for rest and acclimatization at Namche bazaar. During this day, an early hike above town, before the clouds move in, reward climbers with a spectacular Himalayan sunrise and views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse (the 4th highest peak in the world), and the beautiful Ama Dablam. On the way down, we can visit the Sherpa Museum that houses an exhibit on traditional Sherpa lifestyle and a fabulous photography display by a local Nepalese naturalist. One room highlights the Sherpa traditions and in another presents Sherpa high altitude climbers’.
Day 6: Trek to Phorste Thanga (3680 meters)
Trekking begins with a short climb of Namche and continue trek to the Gokyo route turns north, climbing above the more frequented route to Tengboche and Everest base camp. The two trails soon join and continue towards a large chorten on the ridge top at 3973m. This ridge descends from Khumbila. Again from Mong La the trail descends in steep switchbacks down a sandy slope to the Dudh Koshi. The trail to Everest drops down the hill but we turn off here and climb to cross the Mon La before reaching Phortse Thanga.
Day 7: Trek to Machhermo (4470 meters).
The trekking trail climbs steeply through rhododendron forests, passing many Kharkas on its way to Tongba (3950m) and Gyele (3960m) and then reaches Dole. From Dole we will cross a small river and continue ascending to Lhaparma (4330m) and Luza (4340m) and finally reach Machermo. The trail will take about 6 hours to reach Machermo (4470m) where the mountain views are superb.
Day 8: Trek to Gokyo (4790 meters)
The trekking trail ascend to Gokyo via a steep rocky incline into the valley by the side of the glacier, passing the first and second of the holy lakes, crossing the path which heads across the glacier to Cho La - our route to Lobuche and Everest in the trek. The scenery is awesome with the summits of Cho- Oyu and Gyachung Kang reflected in its emerald green waters.
Day 9: Trek to Gokyo Ri (5483 meters) and then back to Gokyo.
We start a steep climb up to the top of Gokyo Ri (5480m) for 3 hours. Stunning views of the Gokyo valley, the massive Ngozumpa Glacier and an incredible panoramic view of the whole Khumbu mountains range of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu (8481m), Cho-Oyu (8153m) and Gychung Kang (7922m) are seen from Gokyo Ri top. Explore around and back to the Gokyo in the afternoon
Day 10: Trek to Phorste village (3680 meters, 6 hours).
Trek a few ups and downs where landslides and streams have carve side valley, eventually entering Phortse Village (3810m). Phortse village is a beautiful in Everest region trekking.
Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar via Khumjung village (3780meters)
After breakfast a steep ascent for 2 hours gets us to Mani Danda. A gradual climb after lunch will see us at the village of Khumjung (4790m). Walk down to Namche via Shyangboche for night stop. Every Saturday, if you are lucky enough to be in Namche on Saturday, people from the surrounding areas bring their goods to sell at ‘Haat Bazaar’ where you can see local and traditional products on sale.
Day 12: Trek to Lukla (2804 meters.)
Trek back to Lukla along the same trail, although it always looks different coming from the opposite direction, on arrival in Lukla (2840m) you will have time to relax and celebrate the completion of your trek.
Day 13: Lukla to Kathmandu
Scenic flight to Kathmandu in the morning takes 40 minutes. Spend free day on your own.
Day 14: Rest day Shopping/ Leisure
If you have slept off your fatigue and stinging muscles, you can go on a shopping or get a massage to get your body back in shape. Or you could still be in Lukla, if it is a bad weather the day before. Either way, you are going to be free today.
Day 15: Kathmandu Airport
Farewell and transfer to airport for flight back to home or the onwards destination.
