Great Himalayan Trail Treks – The Himalayas of Nepal is one of the greatest trekking destination of the world. It is a land of snow peaks and fluttering prayer flags, yak, caravans and epic mountain adventures. The Great Himalaya Trail is a network of existing treks and trails which together form one of the longest and highest trails in the world. The GHT links the highest peaks of the world, visits some of the most remote communities on earth, and passes through lush green valleys, arid high plateaus and possible landscapes. There are two main trekking routes: the high route which is the highest possible trail staying as close as possible to the high peaks and the cultural trail which follows lower trails.
The Great Himalaya Trail crosses the far west- Humla, Rara, Dolpo, Annapurna, Manalsu, Ganesh Himal, Rolwaliing, Khumbu/Everest, Makalu Barun and Kanchenjunga. The high route section of Nepal is roughly 1700km long. In addition to its impressive distance, the high route crosses around 15 passes over 5000 meters and two over 6,100 meters.
