Everest Base Camp

Most expeditions to the highest point on Earth are staged at Everest Base Camp (EBC). The route to EBCis one of the most popular trekking routes in the Himalayas and is visited by thousands of trekkers each year.

Kala Patthar

While on the Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal you can stand face to face with Mount Everest, the “Goddess Mother of the Earth", from the easily reached high-point of 18,192-foot Kala Pattar. Trekkers climb this peak before dawn to catch a glimpse of Everest at sunrise.

Tengboche Monastery

Located in Sagarmatha National Park, the Tengboche Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery. Trekkers and expeditioners visit the monastery to seek blessings for a safe journey.

Namche Bazaar

Namche Bazaar is the gateway to the high Himalayas. The town is popular with adventurers in the Khubu region because it is at a good altitude for acclimitization and has a number of stores to outfit expeditions properly.

Easy

Trips rated EASY typically have 1-3 hours of activity per day, with hikes/walks less than 3 miles on mostly flat terrain at altitudes of up to 3,000 feet. Itineraries with kayaking will have less than 2 miles of paddling per day.

Easy to Moderate

Trips rated as EASY to MODERATE are designed for travelers seeking both EASY and MODERATE trip activity levels. Trips rated EASY to MODERATE typically have easier rated walks/hikes/paddling with options for more moderate activity levels on some days.

Moderate

Trips rated MODERATE typically have 3-6 hours of activity per day, with hikes up to 10 miles on rolling or mountainous terrain with some steep ascents/descents and uneven trails at altitudes of up to 8,000 feet. Itineraries with kayaking will have 3-7 miles of paddling per day.

Moderate to Strenuous

Trips rated as MODERATE to STRENUOUS are designed for travelers seeking both MODERATE and STRENUOUS trip activity levels. Trips rated MODERATE to STRENUOUS typically have moderate rated walks/hikes/paddling with options for more strenuous activity levels on some days.

Strenuous

Trips rated STRENUOUS typically have 5-8 hours of activity per day, with hikes up to 10-12 miles on mountainous, exposed terrain with steep ascents/descents and uneven trails at altitudes of up to 14,000 feet. Itineraries with kayaking will have up to 10 miles of paddling per day. Prior experience hiking at high elevation and a doctor’s release may be required.

Ultimate Challenge

Designed for very fit and experienced hikers. Trips rated ULTIMATE CHALLENGE typically have 10 or more hours of activity per day, hiking 12 or more miles on remote, mountainous, exposed terrain with steep ascents/descents, and uneven trails at altitudes often exceeding 14,000 feet. Itineraries with kayaking will have 10 or more miles of paddling per day. Prior experience hiking at high elevation and a doctor’s release will be required.
