Day 1: Arrive in Lhasa.
Welcome to Tibet! Your Tibet guide will meet you at Lhasa airport upon your arrival at Lhasa airport and drive to Lhasa. After arrival at your hotel, the rest of the day is free for you to explore the local area and acclimatize yourself to this high altitude city at the top of the world.
Day 2: Lhasa Tour
The overwhelming Potala Palace is your first stop. As the symbol of Tibet, it was built in 641 AD and was the winter palace of Dalai Lama who is Tibet pope. Impressive Tibetan architecture, huge golden Buddha statues, red-robed lamas and devoted pilgrims all make it a must-visit. In the afternoon, you will visit the Jokhang Temple, the spiritual center of Tibet. Every day, pilgrims from every corner of Tibet trek here from long distances to worship. Finally, walk the special circular pilgrimage route as local followers always do at Barkhor Street.
Day 3: Lhasa tour
After breakfast, you are driven to visit the Drepung Monastery, once the largest Monastery housing 10,000 monks. Your tour ends at Sera Monastery.
Day 4: Start the Bike Tour- Lhasa Khamba La pass (85km)
We bike from Lhasa up to the base (3700m) of Khamba La Pass. Overnight in tents.
Day 5: Khamba La Pass – Ngartse (55 km)
Bike across Kamba Pass (4794m) to Ngartse Village (4450m). Camp for the night.
Day 6: Ngartse - Karo La pass (54 km)
Bike to the base (4750m) of Karo Pass (5010m). Overnight in tents.
Day 7: Karo Pass - Gyantse (79 km)
Bike across Karo La Pass (5010m) to Gyantse (3980m). Overnight accommodation in a hotel.
Day 8: Gyantse - Shigatse (94 km)
Early tour of the Palkhor Monastery and the old part of Gyantse town, and then ride on a good stretch of road to Shigatse (3860m). Overnight accommodation in a hotel.
Day 9: Shigatse - Gyachung Monastery (75 km)
We cycle over two small passes, past the isolated Gyachung Monastery (4100m). Camp for the night.
Day 10: Bike to Lhatse (95 km)
Bike across Yulong pass (4520m) to Lhatse (3860m). Overnight in tent.
Day 11: Lhatse - Shegar (75 km)
Today we will get our first view of Mount Everest as we bike across the highest pass of this biking adventure, Gyamtso La Pass (5220m), and head toward Shegar (4050m). Overnight in a hotel.
Day 12: Shegar - Rongbuk Valley (67 km)
We head off the main road towards Everest Base, facing 20km of uphill switchbacks with a total of 42 hairpin bends to the summit of the Pang Pass (5150m). We then take a 20-kilometer downhill ride to the Rongbuk Valley (4200m). Overnight in tents
Day 13: Rongbuk Monastery – Everest Base Camp (8 km)
Exploration of the highest monastery Rongbuk Monastery (4200m). Then bike to the Mount Everest Base Camp (5150m). Overnight in tents.
Day 14: Everest Base Camp- Tingri (76 km)
We head back down the bumpy road towards Tingri (4340m). Overnight in tents.
Day 15: Bike across Lalung Pass (75 km)
We head off on a pre-lunch, 40 to 50km flat ride and then tackle the gradual incline of the Lalung Pass (4990m). Overnight in tents in the valley between two passes.
Day 16: Ultimate Downhill to Zhangmu ( 117 km)
After breakfast we climb Thang Pass (5050m). It is all downhill to the Nepalese border with breathtaking views of the Himalayan chain. This will be our last day in Tibet. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 17: Zhangmu - Kathmandu.
After breakfast, drive to the boder of Nepal and Tibet. Your biking trip to Kathmandu ends here. We can also arrange the pickup from border to Kathmandu for you if you want.
