This trip begins with a spectacularly scenic drive through the Trisuli Valley, with great views of the Annapurnas, Manaslu and Ganesh Himal. We take lunch in Trisuli Bazaar and then continue to Syabrubensi where we make our first camp.

We cross a suspension bridge over the Langtang Khola and then follow this river upstream on an undulating forest trail. After a steeper climb beside a number of waterfalls we reach our camp at Chatang, also known as Lama Hotel.

With views of snowy Langtang Lirung, we continue through Goda Tabela into the upper, glacially carved Langtang Valley. Finally, we reach the larger village of Langtang (3430m) with its several lodges and shops.

Crossing yak pastures, we make the easy morning's walk to our next camp at Kyanjin Gompa. Occasional teahouses mark our route and provide convenient stopping places. After lunch, there is the option to climb to the nearby viewpoint of Kyanjin Ri (4773m).

A day for acclimatization. There are several possibilities for walks above Kyanjin Gompa including the ascent of Tsergo Ri (4984m). Overnight at our camp in Kyanjin.

Turning our attention towards Yala Peak, we trek up the valley to the grazing meadows of Nubamathang where we climb steeply to a saddle at 4800 metres. We make our base camp for the climb here.

A day for further acclimatisation and preparation ahead of our climb of Yala Peak

Summit day. We make a pre-dawn start for our ascent of Yala peak. The peak has little in the way of technical difficulties and is mostly climbing on easy angled slopes of scree and snow. Depending on conditions we may rope up or use fixed lines on steeper sections. The final rocky summit pyramid affords a fantastic mountain panorama which includes 8000 metre, Sishapangma.

We return from our base camp to Kanjin Gompa.

Crossing the langtang Khola we climb steeply through rhododendron and pine forest to more open and gentle slopes above the valley. We make a high camp below the Ganja La at Ngegang Kharka (4000m).

Transfer from hotel to airport, fly homer in the east. This ridge marks the northern rim of the Kathmandu Valley.
