Overview of Cholatse Peak Climbing 23 days

Cholatse Peak Climbing is a beautiful and famous peak at the altitude of 6440m in Everest Region of Nepal. It is also known as Jobo Lhaptshan and connected with Tabuche (6,501m), a long ridge. From this peak climbing you will sight panoramic views of Himalayan peaks. This peak is difficult to climbing than other peaks of Nepal. Also you will need technical skill and be careful in ascent part.

This peak climbing can participate those who has experience climber before in ice and rock climbing. For climbing this peak you have need great energetic and ability because of it is one of top vast mountaineering. Only few of participator climber will get success to climb this peak. And you will climb this peak on the month of September-October and April-May. This is the best season as weather and temperature is suitable and clear at that time.

You will view the mountain ranges like Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Lhotse Shar, Makalu, Baruntse,  Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Cho-Oyu etc. Climber can reach this beautiful peak within few days of trekking from Khumbhu valley main entrance. You will start the journey from Lukla with acclimatization days to climb Cholatse.  Thus you will gain more energy to climb this beautiful summit. Since the climbing permit is opened to issue from 2002.

Before 1982 it is already climb up this peak in easy route later in 1984 it is harder to climb from the north face. Most of peak climbing require technically Skill and ability source. So this one is one of tougher peak climb in everest region. Hence most of climber will climb to the summit from southwest ridge because the route can see easily from there.

Difficulty of Cholatse Peak Climbing

Thus, a climber must have a good physical and mental health as walk around 6-7 hour during trekking and climbing days. And as per ascending the trekking days, there will cold nights and snowy, windy days. Only descend route you will get warm temperature. Because of these factor, you will consider about to pack enough warm trekking and climbing gear.

Detail Itinerary of Cholatse Peak Climbing 23 days

01

Day 01: Kathmandu –Lukla – Phakding

Get 30 minute scenic flight to Lukla and trek for 3/4 hour to Phakding (2600m)

Day 02: Phakding to Namche (3440m)

Trek 6/7 hours to Namche bazzar. The first part of the trekking is comparatively easier than the last of part of the trekking. Since the last part of the trekking goes steep uphill from the confluence of Bhote Koshi and Dudh koshi to Namche bazaar. In the middle of the uphill we can see the first view of Mt. Everest.

Day 03: Acclimatization in Namche (3440m)

4/5 hours acclimatize hike to Everest view hotel, Khumjung village and Hillary school. In the afternoon spends free time at Namche bazzar for shopping, internet café for email.

Day 04: Trek to Dole (3675m)

Trek 5/6 hours to Dole. The trail is almost uphill, but landscapes are wonderful.

Day 05: Trek to Machhermo (4410m)

Trek 5/6 hours on alpine meadows and grass land. As we trek up, the Himalayas are closer to us.

Day 06: Acclimatize in Machhermo (5100m)

Acclimatize hike or climb small hill on this day as the acclimatize code, go higher and sleep at lower elevation.

Day 07: Trek to Gokyo (4750m)

Trek 5/6 hours on alpine meadows, glacier and moraine to Gokyo Lake.

Day 08: Acclimatize Climb to Gokyo Peak

Climb to Gokyo peak (5340m) return to Gokyo Village. One of the best climbing peaks in Everest can climb without using any climbing equipment and gear.

Day 09: Gokyo -visit five lake retune to Gokyo (4750m)

Explore the 5th glacier lake in Gokyo Lake.

Day 10: Trek from Gokyo to Thagnak (4700m)

Trek for 4/5 hour to Thangnak on glacier trail.

Day 11: Thangnak / trek to Cholatse Base Camp (5200m)

Trek/climb to Cholatse Base Camp. It takes 5/6 hours to base camp.

Day 12: Climbing day

Climb Cholatse Base camp to high camp

Day 13: Climbing day

High camp acclimatizes day.

14

Day 14: Climbing day

Proceed to camp 1 from High camp.

Day 15: Climbing day

Summit Cholatse Peak and back to 1st camp.

Day 16: Climbing day

Climb back to Cholatse base camp

Day 17: Cholatse Base Camp / trek to Thaknak (4700m)

Day 18: Thaknak / trek to Dzongla (4848m)

A long day trek that takes 8/9 hours, crossing Cho La. A long steep uphill walks to Cho La pass and steep downhill walk to Dzongla.

Day 19: Dzongla / trek to Pangboche (3900m)

Trek down to Pangboche for 5/6 hours walk. Catch the beautiful glimpse of Mt. Ama Dablam in front of you while walking down.

Day 20: Pangboche / trek to Namche (3440m)

Trek back to Namche bazzar, it takes 6/7 hours. Stop for while at Tyangboche monastery from there you could have nice photographs of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam and other mountain peaks.

Day 21: In Namche

Spend free day in Namche bazzar is a good place to spend leisure day. There are shops, restaurant, internet café etc.

Day 22: Trek bak from Namche to Lukla (2800m)

Trek back to Lukla, it is about 7/8 hours walk.

Day 23: Back to Kathmandu by flight

Get fly back to Kathmandu and spend free day in Kathmandu.
