Overview of Mera Peak Climbing 21 days

Mera Peak climbing is one of most popular and highest peak in Nepal. Mera Peak Expedition was first climb up J.O.M Roberts and Sen Tenzing in 1953. Thus, Mera peak climbing trip provides the exploration of the wild life habitat and view beautiful Hongu and Hinku valleys. This trip offer the thrilling experience of the culture and tradition of Sherpa.

This Mera peak climbing is a easy peak expedition than Island peak climbing and other peak . But a climber will get difficult with the altitudes and surrounding snowy as well. You will maintain and trek slowly with taking enough time acclimatize. So the acclimatization help to reduce the risk of altitude sickness. You will not complete this trip within short time, rush the high chance of health problem.

The Mera peak climbing consist three different routes to reach the summit. You will get different route variation pathways. And the route to climbing peak is either easy or difficult. And a climber will spend short quality time at the summit and descend following the route back to Lukla. On the top of summit a climber view the majestic Himalayan of Everest, Kanchenjunga, Chamlang, Kangtega and other surrounding snow-capped peaks.

Best Time to Mera Peak Climbing

Due to high altitude mountain, the weather is unpredictable. So you will choose the perfect time to climb the Mera peak on the month September and November and March to May. At this season the skies is clear  visibility and  prefect for scenic view. Before you will plan for the expedition prepare yourself to tackle any hindrances and difficulty that may come along.

So you will choose an expert professional guide for peak climbing. Because of they will give proper information on how to use ropes, ice axe, crampons for safety the trip. You will use proper gears, and  technical training during the climbing.

Detail Itinerary of Mera Peak Climbing 21 days

01

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,300 m)

On arrival at Kathmandu airport, you will have warm reception meeting at Kathmandu airport, then transfer to Hotel. We are waiting you at Kathmandu airport with your name.

Day 02: Free day in Kathmandu

Kathmandu Tour – Visit Pashupatinath temple and Boudhanath stupa. Trekking and climbing preparation.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2860m

An early start for the dramatic flight through the mountains to Lukla (2840m). We spend the remainder of the day resting and acclimatizing. We overnight in a basic lodge.

Day 04: Trek from Lukla to Chutanga (3474 m)

A short and easy day of trekking off the beaten track, up through thinning forest to the grazing area of Chutanga (3050m).

Day 05: Acclimatization day.

We make a trek up to around 4000 meters giving views over the Dudh Khosi Valley and across to the kshetra La pass. We return to Chutanga.

Day 06: Trek to Thuli kharka (4320m) via Chetra La pass (4600 metres)

A long day mostly uphill to cross the Kshetra La (4600m) and descend to Tuli Kharka a high pasture above the Hinku valley.

Day 07: Walk to Kothey (3500m)

We follow a delightful descending trail across three ridges, before dropping steeply down to the Hinku River and a final uphill to Kothey (3600m).

Day 08: Trek to Tangna 94300 m)

Following the west side of the Hinku River, we trek via the Yak herders summer settlement of Gondishung and its Buddhist shrine to Tagnag (4350m).

Day 09: Acclimatization day

In the morning there is the option to trek up above camp for views of the Mera La. Afternoon to relax.

Day 10: Walk to Khare (5000) and organize equipment

We ascend an ablation valley beside the Dig Glacier to Khare, the basecamp area for Mera Peak.

Day 11: A day for further acclimatization.

We will have a skills training session and get ready for our ascent of Mera Peak.

Day 12: Trek to Mera Peak Base Camp (5415m).

Trek across the Mera La (5300 m) to Mera Peak base camp at 5100. Leaving our base camp we trek up onto the glacier and traverse to the Mera La on the watershed of the Hinku and Hongu valleys.

Day 13: Climb to High Camp, (5768m)

We continue our ascent of the North flank of Mera Peak to a spectacular nestled below a rocky outcropping on the ridge.

Day 14: Summit Mera Peak (6476m) and descend back to Khare

We make the technically straightforward ascent of Mera Peak (6476m). The summit view includes 5 of the World 6 highest mountains. We return to Khare.

Day 15: Extra day for summit attempt and packing up, resting

An extra day reserves, in case of bad weather or delay. We may use this day to split the following day trekking into two shorter days, descending first to Tagnag.

Day 16: Trek to Kothey (Tashi Ongma)

We begin our return trek following the Hinku River to Gotay.

Day 17: Trek to Thuli Kharka.

Uphill again to reach Tuli Kharka below the Ksetra La.

Day 18: Trek to Lukla

A final short climb to the Zatrwa La and then a long descent to Lukla. Overnight in a basic lodge.

Day 19: Flight to Kathmandu

We will have plenty of time after lunch for further sightseeing or shopping.

Day 20: A free day in Kathmandu.

Optional guided sightseeing tour of the city main attractions, which include colorful Buddhist shrines and Hindu temples.

Day 21: Kathmandu Airport

Final airport transfers to get fly back to home
