This is an overland drive crossing the mighty Himalayas and view the panorama of the world's highest peaks - the Mount Everest. Kathmandu EBC is a short tour to Everest base camp of Mount Everest, the world's tallest mountain.
Tibet Everest Base Camp tour starts from Lhasa. Lhasa is the capital of Tibet. You can come to Lhasa either from Kathmandu Nepal or mainland China. This is our best selling Tibet overland tour package.
All you have to buy Tibet travel package to come to Lhasa. Tibet travel permit is the most necessary travel document to visit Tibet. If you come to Lhasa from mainland China, you have to apply and get China visa in advance from your home country, and in addition, you have to get original Tibet travel permit in your hand before boarding into train and flight.
It is also possible to go to Lhasa from Kathmandu for Everest base camp tour. For this you need to carry both Tibet travel permit and Tibet/China paper group visa that issue from Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. This all the necessary travel documents that we will make ready once you book the EBC tour.

Trip Itinerary
Day 01Arrive in Lhasa(3600m)

Upon arrival in Lhasa either by train or flight, your guide/representative will receive you there and transfer to your hotel Viewing the Yarlung Tsangpo River/ Bhamaputra river, the Longest and largest river in Tibet and Lhasa river on their way to Lhasa.Take a rest and get acclimatized to high altitude You can spend the afternoon wandering around the Barkhor, Tibet’s ancient market area that surrounds Jokhang Temple. Each day thousands of Buddhist pilgrims make their way around this sacred temple. You may visit Potala Square, where you will enjoy the fountain with different colors and get amazing photos of the Potala and around.
Day 02Lhasa Tour - Potala Palace, Johkang Temple, and Barkhor Street

You will start the day by exploring the Potala Palace, Tibet’s most iconic building. Towering above Lhasa with more than 1000 rooms, the Potala Palace served as the winter residence of the Dalai Lama’s for hundreds of years. After lunch, you will go to explore the Jokhang temple, the holiest Buddhist temple in the Himalayas. Founded nearly 1400 years ago, Jokhang Temple houses the most sacred statue of Buddha. You will work your way through this fascinating temple alongside Buddhist pilgrims from the faraway regions of Tibet. The sound of pilgrims chanting mantras fills the air as does the smell of yak butter candle offerings. Around the temple is Barkhor street, where you can do kora, a religious circle of a building or mountain with pilgrims and locals, and explore the old market
Day 03Lhasa Tour - Drepung and Sera Monastery

Today you will explore 600 year old Sera monastery, one of Tibet’s largest Buddhist monasteries. Each weekday afternoon starting at 3pm, monks engage in Buddhist philosophy debates, which are fun to photograph.You can also see three sand Mandalas and colorful Rock Painting of Buddha. After lunch, you will go to Drepung, another of Tibet’s huge monastic complexes. The pilgrimage circuit around Drepung takes about an hour or so and offers spectacular views.You can visit biggest monastery kitchen inside the monastery and enjoy Buddhist Sculpture Carving workshop near Drepung.
Day 04Lhasa- Shigatse(3900m, 360km, 7 hours) via Gyantse(3990m)

In the morning, drive from Lhasa to Shigatse crossing over the Gampala pass (4790 m), and you will have a glimpse of Yamdrok-tso (4400m) .The Lake is surrounded by many snow-capped mountains and in the distance you can have spectacular views of Holy Mount Nyenchen Khangsar, (7191m) the highest mountain near Lhasa. Later, we will pass and enjoy the Karola Glacier on the roadside. At Manak Dam Lake, you can hang pray flag at Simila Mountain Pass. Then, we will arrive in Gyantse, historically Tibet's third largest city after Lhasa and Shigatse.In Gyantse, we will visit the famous Pelkor Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum and enjoy the Far view of Gyangtse Fortress. After one and a half driving, we arrive in Shigatse, which is the second largest city in Tibet. In Shigatse, we may visit traditional Barley Mill and view the landscape of Barley Field. Day 05Shigatse (3900m) to Everest Base Camp(5200, 330km, 8 hours)

In the morning, we will visit the home of Panchan Lama - Tashilunpo Monastery. Then, we’ll leave Shigatse after getting your Alien’s travel permit, and then drive to Lhatse, it is a small town where you can have lunch. After lunch, we will pass Tsola Pass(4600M), and Gyatsola Pass(5248M). Shortly after we enter Mt. Everest National Nature Reserve, tourists can enjoy the panorama of Himalaya at Gyaula Pass(5198m).Then we drive along the New zigzag road to Everest Base Camp(5200m). You can get closer view of Mt. Everest. The sunset of golden Everest peak if time and weather permits at the lodging area. Stay overnight at tent or Rongbuk monastery guest house.
Day 06Everest Base Camp (5200m) and return to Shigatse (3900m, 350km, 8 hours)

In the morning, you can see the sunrise over Mount Everest if weather permits. Then we will visit the Rongbu Monastery - the unique highest monastery with nuns and monks living together. You can visit the Everest Base Camp monument and take the close-up shot of Mt. Everest. Finally, we will drive back to Shigatse. Stay overnight in Shigatse.
Day 07Shigatse (3900m) to Lhasa (3650m, 290km, 7 hours)

Today, we will drive back to Lhasa by following Yarlung Valley. You can stand on the viewing platform and view the vast Yarlung River bed. Finally the guide will transfer you back to your hotels in Lhasa. Stay overnight in Lhasa.
Day 08Lhasa Airport/Train Station.
Before 3 hours you have to reach Lhasa airport /1 hours reach on Train Station BB Plan-Breakfast Back to your own destination
