Shivapuri National Park Hiking is a nature day hike in Shivapuri National Park for bird watching, wildlife in Kathmandu. Shivapuri National Park is very famous for flora and fauna and also paradise for bird watching. The day hike starts from Budhanilkantha, can reach there with a short drive from Kathmandu. You will hike up to Shivapuri Peak for 4 hours on a steep uphill trail through narrow and dusty path.

It offers admirable view of the Langtang Himalayas, wonderful nature, bird-eye view of Kathmandu valley and the surroundings. Once you enjoy view from Shivapuri peak, you will hike down to Budhanilkantha and drive back to Kathmandu. This is long and difficult hard hiking in Kathmandu. Rainy season is not a good time hiking in Shivapuri National Park.

Shivapuri National Park Hiking is famous for bird watching, dense forest, waterfall and some wild animals. The Shivapuri hiking begins from Budhanilkantha with a short drive from Kathmandu. A moderate 15-km hike through farmlands and Kathmandu’s nearest forest reserve, Shivapuri National Park. Shivapuri is one of the most popular hiking  destinations in Kathmandu for bird watchers and pilgrimage travelers. Shivapuri is the second highest peak at 2563 m of Kathmandu valley.

Detail Itinerary of Shivapuri National Park Hiking

Day 01: Shivapuri hiking

7:00 AM- Pick up you in your hotel

7:15 AM- Depart from hotel to Budhanilkatha approx. 45 min drive

8:00 AM- Breakfast on the way, and also fill up water bottle or last minute shopping for the hike on the way.

8:30 AM- Drive approx. 5 to 10 min to Army check post point (entrance of Shivapuri National park) pay the conservation fee and start your hike

12:00 PM- Reach top of Shivapuri, which is rewarded with expansive views of the mountains to the north.

Lunch break for one hour (note: there is no food or water available in the park, so make sure to bring your own)

13:00 PM- Hike back to the base of the park via Nagi Gompa

16:00 PM- Meet your vehicle outside the Army check post and drive back to Kathmandu and drop you at Hotel.

Great trek with a great guide
We had a great experience with our guide Narayan, hiking the Manaslu circuit- he was professional and responsible, attentive to our needs, and very knowledgeable about the trail and the best places to stay, eat, etc.. Must visit!
Had a wonderful time, 5 days in Mardi Himal were as magical as promised. Was lucky to have Mr. Bikram as the guide - very knowledgeable and polite demeanour. Definitely coming back to Nepal again

Perfect trek with Bikram in Langtang !

Awesome ABC Trek via Phoon Hill
This is the second time I’ve chosen Mission Eco Trek Co. for a holiday trip. For this trek, I decided two weeks before departure as a solo traveler. Jitendra, the owner, patiently tailored a customized itinerary that fit my schedule. The trek is a 7-day ABC trek via Phoon Hill. Everything was smoothly arranged, except for the unpredictable weather – of course, that’s always an element you have to expect. Above all, my guide, Sundar, was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, experienced, and genuinely caring. He took care of every detail throughout the journey, which made my trek to and from ABC truly wonderful. During the trek, I even started planning my next one, deciding which trek to take and when. A very trustworthy company!
I booked a morningtrip to Nagarkot with a 2 hour hiking trip. I had the best time with mr Jitendra who runs the company and was my guide himself. He added some extra’s to the trip (eg the suspension bridge) bc the weather was cloudy and I didn’t have a good view of the mountains (which was my main purpose).
